This is because of the pull-up resistors on the data lines. So the microcontroller returns a serial number of 0xFFFFFFFF to the PSP, which then goes into service mode. WebSep 12, 2008 · An EEPROM.BIN is a file in which you can backup the battery EEPROM (serial number stats etc.) if you do it the 'regular' way, by softmodding it. Then you can restore the original EEPROM back to the battery after downgrading the PSP. However, restoring the EEPROM usually breaks the battery or causes problems, so this is not advised.
